Confession Booth - A labour of love iPhone app

Finally! After months of work and mucking around with the Apple developer program, the iPhone app I've been working on with Scott and Piers (get a web address sucker) is out in the wild. Check it out!

It looks a bit like this

And here is the description:

Too impatient to wait for Judgement Day? Stuck on an escalator that's only going down. Vent yo' self fool.

What will be your fate and who will decide?

IE 7 and the Operation Aborted issue

Here is one for people developing web applications and experiencing Internet Explorer 7's very helpful "Operation Aborted" error message when modifying the DOM as part of page loading.

add the defer="true" attribute to your script tags to fix the problem. Booyah.

The Italian Stallion

The first ever electric guitar I played was an Italian sort of hollow body SG shaped thing called an "élite". It looked horrible and went out of tune while you were playing it. It had noisy single coil pickups and I broke the input jack by sitting on it - but I loved it! This project would give the Italian stallion a new lease on life just in time for Christmas.

Heres what I started with:

Active home theatre sub

I was pretty happy with the last set of speakers I built for my sister and her husband but I made some last minute changes to the drivers I usually use. This resulted in much smoother mids and highs but I felt there was a hole in the low end probably around 350Hz. The solution: a 200W active sub with a nice big 10" poly cone driver!

Here is how the plan started:

Skate Seats

Finished the first prototype for a new product created by Scott and I. Its a skate seat or table. We created one especially for the Apartment Store launch in the city and you can see it in the front display cabinet.

More to come soon! Construction photos after the jump.

A new blog

The reason I have created this web log is twofold:

* It's a good place to store a journal and photos of things that I would otherwise forget about.
* Blogs are a landmark method of communication created by my generation. To get one for myself is to recognise the importance of blogs as a significant part of the internet.

Real "Guitar Hero" controller.

Got a mates wedding coming up, and he and his missus love guitar hero 2 so I decided to build them a present. Its a chinese strat copy guitar that will be modified to contain the buttons and circuit boards of the out-of-the-box guitar hero controller.

Home theatre speakers

I built a few sets of home theatre speakers. The first set were an experiment and they turned out so good that I just kept going. They are about 150cm high with two 8" drivers, a silk dome tweeter and a 6" mid separated internally with a baffle.

Fence plans

Ive decided to change the front fence of my house to give the property a mor modern look from the outside. The plans include extending the existing fence up, building a new set of gates for the driveways, including an awning to match the fence to the house and a change of colour scheme.

before

after

I modelled the house in 3D Studio Max 7 to get an idea of what the plans would look like.
