Wrong way down

Managed to capture some video from the weekend using one of these Camzilla camera mount kits. The start has a section up the Toowoomba range, then different grades of gravel into the park and the out of the park during a sandy section.

Barakula state forest on KLRs

Recently hit up Barakula State Forest with some mates for some trail riding and camping. Had a great time and learned about how hard it is to keep a heavy bike upright in bulldust/sand. Click the route for the gallery, video to come:

Soundwave Brisbane 2010

For me it was more like a Faith No More show with heaps of support acts. Saying that, I REALLY dug Meshuggah - so powerful and tight live which is amazing given the type of music they play. Click the picture for the whole gallery:

Dansk muffler sound test

We bought a Dansk 92.511SD sports exhaust for the 911 but I think it's missing the interior baffling. Why? Cos its bloody loud! Only marginally better than the sound straight out of the headers. According to the experts these mufflers are supposed to produce a nice note for a street car. I wouldn't call it that:

New loopus vids

Uploaded some new Loopus vids from the Uber recording session this week:

Opus 3 - Dark days buildup from Loopus on Vimeo.

The band builds up organically over a great theme by Dave Spicer (www.davespicermusic.com)

Riffs and solos from the players are sampled, added to the mix and built upon in realtime using Ableton live, a Korg padKontrol and other midi controllers

911 getting a new ECU

Next thing to be redone on this car after the fuel system and brakes is the ECU. The Haltech E6-S series is now over ten years old so it's currently at STZ Performance getting a brand new Sprint 500. They are brand new, all surface mount units that do pretty much everything you need for a street car. >

What's interesting is that Haltech have moved to megaquirt style alpha-N tuning rather than the bars and buckets that the E6S has. And they are also tiny, this pic is close to life size:

Sundown National Park

This weekend saw the first real off road motorbike trip to Sundown National Park just north of Tenterfield. Here is the weekend's travels, courtesy of SPOT:

DIY crashbars in two nights

Really not happy with how these turned out but it's to be expected given they were knocked up in a few nights. They did the job for the sundown national park trip however - saved my right side engine case and radiator fairing from scuff/abuse.

Playing around with an idea for the general shape, the idea is to use the footpegs and engine mounts as the mounting points for a cage around the motor and radiator.

After a few revisions of the shape, this is about perfect for the outline...

Alternator bracket broke

So I made a new one that won't.
